The conference was held at the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences in Pre\u0161ov, Slovakia, on 4-7 September 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Czech and Slovak scientific communities gathered to present and share research results, find new collaborations and <\/span>discuss about<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> future developments in physics and the related fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This year CERIC-ERIC joined the Forum with a Special Session, to raise awareness among the Czech and Slovak physicists and the communities of the <\/span>neighbouring<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> countries, about the research opportunities that it offers. The CERIC session was organized in collaboration with the Uzhhorod National University, in the framework of the H2020 project\u00a0<a class=\"urllink\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accelerate2020.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">ACCELERATE<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The\u00a0<a class=\"urllink\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ceric-eric.eu\/uploads\/Media\/Agenda_PresovConference.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">CERIC Special Session programme<\/a>\u00a0included a general introduction to CERIC, with a focus on the Czech Partner Facility, and a presentation from the CERIC users<strong>Ivan Khalakhan<\/strong>\u00a0from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic and\u00a0<strong>Adalbert Barta<\/strong>\u00a0from Uzhhorod National University, Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Ivan Khalakhan<\/strong>\u00a0presented the CERIC research project <\/span>CEROP<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> which focuses on the development of special samples cell to investigate fuel cells under realistic conditions. The final aim to elucidate the catalytic mechanism of cerium oxide nanoparticles as <\/span>alternative<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> to expensive platinum catalysts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Adalbert Barta<\/strong>\u00a0presented his research that deals with the adsorption of Adenine amino acids on the surface of Titan Dioxide <\/span>nanoparticles<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">. He investigated the mechanisms of adsorption by means of instrumentation from the CERIC Czech Partner Facility in combination with theoretical calculations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The CERIC Special Session was also a great opportunity to discuss potential collaboration activities between CERIC and the University of Pre\u0161ov, with the aim of contributing to the development of Slovak scientific research through the single-entry access point to excellent research facilities that CERIC is offering both to scientists and commercial users.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Go to the event\u00a0<a class=\"urllink\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/kf.elf.stuba.sk\/~19kcsf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.
