{"id":4443,"date":"2017-10-16T15:12:58","date_gmt":"2017-10-16T15:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/teib.info\/?p=4443"},"modified":"2025-07-25T08:16:03","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T08:16:03","slug":"4th-workshop-energy-for-sustainable-science-at-research-infrastructures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teib.info\/?p=4443","title":{"rendered":"4th Workshop Energy for Sustainable Science at Research Infrastructures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eli-np.ro\/\" target=\"_blank\">ELI-NP<\/a>\u00a0(Extreme light Infrastructure &#8211; Nuclear Physics), in collaboration with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/home.cern\/\" target=\"_blank\">CERN<\/a>\u00a0(The European Organization for Nuclear Research),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.erf-aisbl.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\">ERF<\/a>\u00a0(The European Association of National Research Facilities),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/europeanspallationsource.se\/\" target=\"_blank\">ESS<\/a>\u00a0(The European Spallation Source), and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aries.web.cern.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\">ARIES<\/a>\u00a0(The Accelerator Research and Innovation for European Science and Society), will host on 23-24 November 2017, in Magurele, the <\/span>forth<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> Workshop on Energy for Sustainable Science at Research Infrastructures Facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Volatile energy costs, a tight budget <\/span>climate<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> and increasing environmental concerns are all inciting large-scale research facilities across the globe to devise mid- and long-term strategies for sustainable developments at their research infrastructures, including the aim for reliable, affordable and carbon-neutral energy supplies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This workshop will bring together international sustainability experts, stakeholders and representatives from research facilities and future research infrastructure projects all over the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">One of the main goals of this event is to identify the challenges, best practices and policies to develop and implement sustainable solutions at research infrastructures. This includes the increase of energy efficiencies, energy system optimizations, <\/span>storage<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> and savings, implementation and management issues as well as the review of challenges represented by potential future technological solutions and the tools for effective collaboration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Some of the main topics to be discussed are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"content_list_01\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Energy Management at Laboratories<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Energy Efficiency<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Energy Recovery<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Advanced Energy Technologies and Future R&amp;D<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This workshop is the latest event of the series &#8220;Energy for Sustainable Science at Research Infrastructures&#8221; that is organized by ERF, CERN, <\/span>ESS<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> and ARIES, holding biennial workshops at various places.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ELI-NP\u00a0(Extreme light Infrastructure &#8211; Nuclear Physics), in collaboration with\u00a0CERN\u00a0(The European Organization for Nuclear Research),\u00a0ERF\u00a0(The European Association of National Research Facilities),\u00a0ESS\u00a0(The European Spallation Source), and\u00a0ARIES\u00a0(The Accelerator Research and Innovation for European Science and Society), will host on 23-24 November 2017, in Magurele, the forth Workshop on Energy for Sustainable Science at Research Infrastructures Facilities.
